What we collect
Two categories of data:
- Enquiry-form submissions: the fields you fill in (name, email, county, what you're shopping for, body type, budget, timeline, optional message and dealer-sharing consent), plus limited technical data used to stop spam and enforce rate limits.
- Site analytics: aggregated, anonymised page-view data via our self-hosted Matomo install. Matomo is configured to anonymise IP addresses and respect Do-Not-Track. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or any third-party analytics.
Why we collect it
- Enquiry-form data is used to answer your request for EV buying guidance and, only where you consent and a suitable verified dealer is available, to arrange an introduction. A submission does not guarantee a dealer match or response time.
- Analytics data is used to understand which articles are useful and which aren't, so we can improve them.
Who we share it with
- A suitable verified Irish dealer, only with your explicit consent. We share only the brief and contact details needed for the introduction. Technical anti-spam data is never shared.
- Our hosting provider (a Dublin-based Irish hosting company), to the extent of standard server logs.
- No-one else. We don't sell or rent your data. We don't share it with carwow.co.uk or any UK platform. We don't pass it to manufacturers, marketing agencies, or data brokers.
How long we keep it
- Enquiry submissions: retained for up to 12 months to answer the request, document consent and assess the pilot, then deleted unless a longer period is required by law.
- Analytics: aggregated indefinitely; individual session data is automatically purged after 90 days.
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal data we hold about you, and to object to our processing of it. Email privacy@carwow.ie with your request. We will respond within 30 days.
If you believe we are mishandling your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ireland: dataprotection.ie.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how we use existing data, we'll email everyone whose enquiry we still hold.
